The City of London is considering regulating short-term rentals.
Council will examine a report that calls for regulations of popular sites such as Airbnb and V-R-B-O in an effort to curb violence, wild parties and noise complaints.
Possible regulations include creating a licence for anyone looking to rent out a room or an entire house for 28 days or less.
City Manager Wendell Graves says he is not certain whether there are many such rental units in St. Thomas or whether any complaints have been filed.
Graves says it is possible an organization like the Association of Municipalities of Ontario could get involved and offer direction to communities like St. Thomas.
Both Toronto and Ottawa are in the process of implementing their own short-term rental regulations.
