A quick-thinking elderly Aylmer resident thwarted a phone scammer calling to say she had won a cash prize in a Publisher’s Clearing House draw.
The caller attempted to obtain her banking information, however she recognized the call to be a scam. She then contacted Aylmer Police about the phone call.
They remind residents not to provide any personal banking information over the phone. Scammers often use aggressive tactics to try to obtain personal information from victims.
A good rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
