Membership in what is commonly known as the St. Thomas Sunshine Club declined by one in 2019. Last year the number of municipal employees earning more than $100,000 stood at 133, down from 134 in 2018. This reporting is required under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act of 1996.

Most recently, the police and fire services have accounted for the greatest increase year over year. But that has not been the case the past two years. In 2019, 48 members of the police service earned more than $100,00, down seven from 2018.
At the St. Thomas Fire Department, 48 are on the list, an increase of a single individual in the past year.
On the city administration side, 37 employees made the list, up from 32 in 2018.
