Jelfs Academy of Karate Excellence held a kick-a-thon where the students each did 1000 kicks in 1 hour to raise funds for Inn Out of the Cold. The kick-a-thon took place during multiple sessions, with all 3 age groups raising a total of $3500 for Inn Out of the Cold through pledges.
Owner Jeff Jelfs says the kids really embraced the idea of supporting Inn Out of the Cold.
Around 30 students spent their hour kicking on and off while their parents counted for them, which Jelfs says was a nice bonding experience as parents are usually stuck watching from the viewing area.
Jelfs says that they now what to challenge other martial arts and fitness studios to hold similar events.
