A 61 year old St. Thomas woman is facing 2 different impaired driving charges following a single vehicle collision on Bush Line Monday afternoon. Officers located the woman trapped inside her vehicle around 1 p.m. after she lost control and crashed into a ditch. Police managed to pry one of the doors open and discovered a strong odour of alcohol coming from inside.
The woman was then taken into custody and transported to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Breath samples that were taken at the hospital determined that the woman had one and a half times the legal amount of alcohol in her system.
As a result she is being charged with one count Operation While Impaired by Alcohol and Drugs and one count Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. She was later released on an Undertaking with a court date.
