Starting Monday morning, the city of St. Thomas is going to take a balanced approach in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Joe Preston says this will involve keeping city hall and the social services department open to the public for the delivery of services, however all recreational facilities and the public library will be closed effective immediately. Preston is encouraging residents, for the time being, to consider phone calls and online access to city services instead of personal visits to city hall.
If you do have to visit in person, Preston says you may be asked some basic screening questions.
The city’s March Break Day Camp has been cancelled and the EarlyOn Child and Family Centres will be closed. Monday’s council meeting will proceed as scheduled, however it will be closed to the public. The meeting will be available as a live webcast at http://www.stthomas.ca
A decision will be made Monday on the status of the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre.
Preston reminds residents plenty of up-to-date information relating to COVID-19 is available on the Southwestern Public Health website at http://www.swpublichealth.ca.
