In response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Ontario, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is implementing several changes. Effective tomorrow (Thursday) there is a No Visitor policy.
Restricted access will remain in effect for critically ill and palliative patients, as well as those in the pediatric and obstetrical units. Visiting in these areas will be restricted to one visitor per patient, with exceptions assessed on a one-to-one basis. All children attending the Emergency Department can have one guardian present.
The hospital says these moves are designed to maximize resources, prioritize services and preserve hospital capacity.
