Southwestern Public Health has confirmed Monday the first case of COVID-19 in Elgin county. Dr. Joyce Lock, the Medical Officer of Health for Southwestern Public Health advised this is the first case of coronavirus confirmed in Oxford County, Elgin County or the City of St. Thomas.
Dr. Lock added the health unit is following up with any contacts of the individual to ensure the public is aware and protected from the spread of this virus. She stressed, now more than ever, the importance of self-isolating.
Dr. Lock advised within Oxford and Elgin counties and the City of St. Thomas, 120 COVID-19 tests have been administered to date.
