The Elgin County OPP responded to a single vehicle collision last night along the 401 westbound lanes, west of Colonel Talbot Road. At around 6:30 p.m. officers arrived on scene where a transport truck was found in the ditch.
The Southwold and Dutton-Dunwich Fire Departments, along with St. Thomas Elgin paramedics attended the scene, where the driver had to be extricated by fire crews.
Air Orange transported the driver to hospital with serious injuries that has since been updated to stable. The Ministry of the Environment was also contacted due to a fuel spill associated with the trucks gas tanks.
Police report that road and weather conditions were not a factor in this collision as the investigation continues.
