Although not as popular a concept as in the past, pen pals are still corresponding with each other around the world. But how about pan pals? Big Brothers/Big Sisters of St. Thomas and Elgin want to connect the generations during this time of social distancing through pandemic pen pals. As Carolyn Johnson explains, Project Pan Pals will connect little brothers and sisters and their mentors and families through letters to residents of seniors facilities that have visitor restrictions in place.
And those residents can correspond back with their pan pals, explains Carolyn Johnson.
The letters – which can come from anyone in the community – can include personal information, advice or an encouraing message or simply what you did today. Letters can be dropped off at 146 Centre Street in St. Thomas or emailed to carolyn.johnsonc@bigbrothersbigsisters.ca.
