The Aylmer Police have charged a male under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act after violating a self quarantine order following his return from another country. On March 30th, police were investigating a report that the male was violating the self quarantine order and at that time officers warned the man and explained the legislation that was passed to protect citizens from COVID-19 pandemic.
The following day an officer on patrol observed the same male making deliveries in town. As a result, the 42 year old Aylmer resident was charged under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
Police Chief Horvat says “Citizens are reminded that police will not tolerate blatant disregard for safety of citizens of Aylmer and Ontarians. There is a reason why government passed the legislation and everyone needs to do their part to minimize the risk of exposure to the global pandemic. If you chose to violate the order, you will be charged.”
