Online learning at Ontario schools began on Monday to ensure students can continue with their curriculum’s during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thames Valley District School Board director of education Mark Fisher says no student’s school year will be jeopardized as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
Fisher says preparations have been underway for some time to ensure parents have computers, laptops and internet connections so students can participate.
Fisher adds there is a real place for digital learning moving forward in education and there are going to be plenty of valuable lessons learned from this experience.
Fisher says online learning doesn’t replace what teachers had previously been presenting to students, it supplements what they have been teaching for the time being.
