The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital has opened an onsite COVID-19 assessment centre which will operate seven days a week. Hospital president and CEO Robert Biron says the purpose of the centre is to identify cases early, contain them and prevent putting more people at risk. However a referral is required to take advantage of the centre.
Biron reminds people to go through the COVID-19 self-assessment process first.
The centre will be open from 2 until 6 p.m. seven days a week with a dedicated entrance off Hepburn Avenue. Biron says turnaround time for test results is typically 24 hours and individuals will have to self-isolate until the results are know.
