While many transit systems across the province have shut down or reduced service during the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Thomas Transit is continuing to operate a regular service with several adjustments. No fares or passes are required, however passengers are reminded the bus service is for essential use only.
Justin Lawrence, City of St. Thomas director of engineering, says seat capacity on the buses has been reduced, the vehicles are being regularly cleaned and sanitized both inside and out and drivers have been issued personal protection equipment.
Lawrence says they are meeting all the suggested protocols.
Riders are reminded the transit building is closed and city staff are cleaning bus shelters along the routes.
And, effective today, the new hours of service are 8:15 AM – 5:45 PM Monday – Saturday.
