The Elgin County OPP have released more information in relation to the fatal single-vehicle collision that took place on Friday night in Malahide Township.
Police responded to the scene on Imperial Road between Calton Line and John Wise Line around 11: 30 p.m. where they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. According to police, the lone northbound vehicle had left the roadway, struck a tree, and then caught fire. Malahide Fire Services attended the scene of the crash and extinguished the fire.
Police report that the lone driver was dead on their arrival. The driver is schedule for a post-mortem, with next of kin notification pending the completion.
The road was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team assisted at the scene.
