A Special Weather Statement is in effect for both St. Thomas and Elgin County due to strong winds that are expected today. Environment Canada says we can expect Cold Arctic air returns with strong and gusty northwest winds.
Northwest winds with frequent gusts of 70 km/h will occur today in the wake of a sharp arctic cold front that blasted across Southwestern Ontario early this morning. A few higher gusts up to 80 km/h are possible as well.
They report these winds are strong enough to cause Isolated power outages. Winds will slowly diminish this evening.
