A 4th death related to the COVID-19 pandemic has been recorded in St. Thomas and Elgin County. According to Southwestern Public Health, a 72-year-old St. Thomas woman died at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital after coming in close contact with an infected individual.
Elgin and St. Thomas now have 15 confirmed ongoing cases, with 7 in St. Thomas, 3 in Dutton-Dunwich, 2 in West Elgin and 1 each in Aylmer, Bayham and Malahide.
There is 1 institutional outbreak at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
In the Southwestern Public Health coverage area, 1,457 people have been tested as of Wednesday, with 1,068 negative results and 338 pending. 16 cases have now been resolved.
