Members of the St. Thomas Police Service spent their morning doing a sweep of a vacant building following several reports of trespassers. Police had received information on several occasions that the building located at 104 Inkerman Street, was being used as shelter for the homeless and that neighbours report several individuals were seen frequenting the area.
Police report that the building had been boarded up by the property owner however the boards were easily removed allowing access. During the sweep, Officers removed one male and discovered areas that indicated several people may be living in the unsafe conditions. Police were also able to locate drug paraphernalia and stolen property inside the building.
The STP says they will continue to work with other enforcement agencies to secure the building and keep the area safe for neighbourhood residents.
