The Ontario government has released the framework to reopen the province. The government is planning a 3-stage approach to reopening the economy. Premier Doug Ford says this road map does not include a timeline as to when things will reopen.
As part of the first stage of reopening, select businesses will be able to modify operations to meet public health guidance. This includes opening outdoor spaces likes parks and allowing more individuals to attend some events. Hospitals will also begin to offer some non-urgent and scheduled surgeries, and other health care services.
As a part of the second stage of reopening the economy, more workplaces ,which may include some service industries, office and retail workplaces would be able open. Also larger public gatherings would be allowed and more outdoor spaces would open.
The final stage would include the reopening off all workplaces and further relaxing restrictions on public gatherings.
Ford says they are preparing for the responsible restart of our economy and the top priority remains protecting the health and safety of the people of Ontario.
Other factors that will be taken into consideration to reopen the economy will be consistent two to four week decreases in the number of new daily cases, sufficient critical care capacity, an increase in testing especially of vulnerable populations and 90% of new COVID-19 contacts must be reached within one day to reduce community spread.
