The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in St. Thomas and Elgin County is continuing to slowly drop. Over the weekend, no new COVID-19 cases were announced and the last remaining active case in West Elgin was resolved.
As of Monday (April 27) 12 cases of COVID-19 are active in St. Thomas and Elgin County compared to this time last week, where 18 cases were active. There are currently 6 on going cases in St. Thomas, 3 in Dutton Dunwich, 1 in Aylmer, 1 in Bayham, and 1 in Malahide.
In the Southwestern Public Health coverage area, 1,940 people have been tested as of Monday, with 1,275 negative results and 608 pending. A total of 24 cases have now been resolved.
Ontario is reporting 424 new COVID-19 cases, and 57 new deaths. That brings the total of cases in the province to 14,856, a 2.9 per cent increase over Sunday’s total, continuing several days of lowering growth rates.
Ontario’s total number of cases includes 892 deaths and 8,525 resolved cases.
