Social distancing seems to be working in St. Thomas and Elgin County as the areas confirmed COVID-19 cases drops to the single digits for the first time in weeks.
Following our last report on Monday (April 27) where 12 cases were ongoing, 5 cases have since been resolved, bringing the total of confirmed active cases in St. Thomas and Elgin County to 7.
As of Wednesday (April 29) there are currently 4 on going cases in St. Thomas, 1 in Dutton Dunwich, 1 in Aylmer and 1 in Malahide.
In the Southwestern Public Health coverage area, 2,355 people have been tested as of Wednesday, with 1,664 negative results and 631 pending. A total of 32 cases have now been resolved.
Ontario is reporting 347 new COVID-19 cases today, and 45 more deaths.That brings the province to a total of 15,728 cases, a 2.3 per cent increase over the previous day, which is the lowest growth rate in weeks.
More than 60 per cent of the total cases (9,612) are ones that have been resolved, and there have been a total of 996 deaths.
