For many Central Elgin residents, the announcement is one more indication that we’re slowly easing out of the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Effective today, the burn ban in Central Elgin is no longer in effect. Fire Chief Chris McDonough says the municipality is following the lead of the province, but he stresses the importance of continuing to maintain social distancing.
McDonough reminds residents in built up areas that only small cooking fires are permitted.
He adds that residents have already begun the process of applying for a burn permit.
