Much like their name suggests, they are there when you need them M.O.S.T. The St. Thomas Police Service has officially launched their new Mobile Outreach Support Team or MOST, that now consists of 2 CMHA workers.
In January, the STP announced the arrival of their new CMHA worker Yvonne, but also hoped to add another one down the road that would allow for service throughout the entire day.
Corporate Communications Coordinator Tanya Calvert says that thanks to the addition of their new CMHA worker Brianne, that is now a reality.
Calvert says that the plan is to have Yvonne and Brianne work closely with Constable Jeremy Linker as the three dedicate themselves to assisting those struggling with mental health related issues, but due to COVID-19 and staffing, they may be working with other officers for the time being.
Calvert adds that the addition of Brianne will help the STP respond to more mental health calls much like the 560 plus calls that were attended to in 2018.
