Although they won’t be filled with students like we are used to seeing, 22 school buses will be making their way around St. Thomas and Elgin County on Tuesday (May 12) to salute frontline and essential workers.
The school buses, which will be decorated with signs and pinwheels be making stops at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, our local grocery stores and nursing homes.
Branch Manager at First Student Inc, Kevin Murray says they will be splitting the buses into 2 groups in order to hit all the spots they want to visit.
Murray says the second group will be visiting 7 nursing homes in the area.
Murray adds that they must take the buses out for a drive every couple weeks to insure that they stay road ready, and this was the perfect opportunity to get everyone together to say thank you to all our local heroes serving through COVID-19.
