Thanks to the assistance of Police Service Dog Axle, the St. Thomas Police were able to arrest a 29 year old resident that was wanted in the city. Police report that on Sunday around 5:30 p.m., Michael Maginn was arrested in a grassy field near the Highway #3 bypass after a short foot chase with the assistance of PSD Axle.
The incident began when officers on patrol observed Maginn in the area of First and Edward Street and recognized him as being wanted on a warrant. When Maginn saw police he fled the area, but following a short foot chase he was taken into custody without incident a short distance away.
As a result the 29 year old has been charged with Break and Enter, Breach of Release Conditions x3, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight From Police and Drive While Prohibited.
During the arrest police also seized a crowbar from Maginn, resulting in an additional charged of Breach of Release Conditions as he was released by the courts on conditions not to possess any break and enter tools.
He was held for a court appearance.
