A 60 year old St. Thomas woman has been charged with impaired driving following a minor collision that took place Monday night. Police report that around 7 p.m., they were called to the intersection of Holland Avenue at Elm Street where a woman had overrun a stop sign on Holland Ave and decided to reverse her vehicle, hitting the car that had stopped behind her.
When officers arrived on scene they detected a strong odour of alcohol and arrested the driver. Breath samples taken at the police station indicated that the woman had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.
As a result the 60 year old driver has been charged with Operation While Impaired by Alcohol and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus.
