Starting next month area residents will be able to shop virtually for local produce while supporting youth. The Talbot Teen Centre in St. Thomas is gearing up to launch CULTIVATE Virtual Farmers’ Market. Vicki Asher, teen centre manager, says the virtual market is an opportunity for local youth to learn and build valuable life skills by being involved in the day-to-day operation of a small business while connecting them to local farmers.
Asher says the young people will be involved in every aspect, including the accounting process.
Asher says 14 area vendors have committed to participate at this point. She adds consumers will place their orders online early each week for pick-up at a pre-arranged time Thursdays at the Talbot Teen Centre.
