YMCA’s throughout Southwestern Ontario have made the decision to cancel all current day camp registrations and will be refunding parents for the payments already made.
Regional Manager for St. Thomas Katie Payler says this wasn’t the route they wanted to take, but they made the decision after the province extended the state of emergency until the end of June.
Payler says that they are still hopeful that they will be able to offer some kind of camp programming once they know more about how they would be able to operate with current health and government restrictions.
In the meantime, Payler says they’re keeping in contact with families and offering a virtual platform through their “Y at Home” program.
