Area hospitals will see an increase in provincial funding to meet current and future demands for service. The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital will get almost $3.5 million, an increase of 4.4 percent over last year. The increase is in recognition of the long-standing funding inequities for small- and medium-sized hospitals.
Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek noted it is more important than ever that these facilities have the resources they need to keep communities safe and healthy.
STEGH CEO Robert Biron says the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital thanks the Ontario government for the continued support in stabilizing medium-sized hospitals with this funding announcement.
Local allocations are as follows…
· St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital: $3,479,100 (4.4% increase)
· St. Joseph’s Health Care, London: $2,936,900 (1% increase)
· London Health Sciences Centre: $12,954,900 (1.6% increase)
