After a split decision May 19, city council was unanimous Monday in allowing the Horton Market to open for the season on June 20. It will be an outdoor market only and limited to 75 customers at any one and the market building closed except for use of the washroom. Mayor Joe Preston says the market board of directors presented council with a revised plan that addressed all concerns.
Preston feels, for the time being, opening the market is on a trial undertaking.
At this time there are 14 vendors who have committed to an outdoor market. If more vendors are interested in joining the market, consideration will be given to expanding to tables and tents in the north parking lot.
