Although St. Thomas received some minor damage as a result of last nights storm, our neighbours in Belmont and Dorchester are cleaning up this morning after a tornado touched down.
The tornado which has been confirmed by Environment Canada caused some pretty significant damage says local farmer Donna Lunn who lives just south of Belmont.
Lunn says that her friends that own Mistyglen Holsteins dairy farm, 2 roads north of them had their barn ripped apart as a result of the tornado.
Lunn says that thankfully no animals or people were injured in this case.
Lunn adds that there was very little time to take action as area residents who received a tornado alert didn’t get it until after it had already hit.
Several other barns in the area also sustained damage including a pig barn in Harrietsville.
