As a result of a recent weather event, the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank will be closing its facility at 803 Talbot Street until the end of July in order to complete repairs.
Although this means that the food bank will not be able to accept food donations for the month of July, they will continue to accept monetary donations and will still be taking care of their customers with the addition of a new help line.
Those that are in need of food assistance during the month long closure are asked to leave their full name and phone number on the dedicated help line through voicemail or text message at 519-878-FOOD (3663).
General Manager Karen McDade says with the COVID-19 pandemic, they have had to change the way in which they operate the food bank and this is just another move they have to make to continue offering their service to the community.
McDade says that they apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but want to let the community know that they are still here for them. To stay up to date with the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank, you can visit their Facebook page or website.
