Thanks to a very generous donation, the STEAM Education Centre will be launching a 3 year pilot project called STEAM Community Studio.
The $225,000 which was provided by the Estate of Donna Vera Evans Bushell will fund the initiative for the start-up period, that will see STEAM team members and participants examine challenges facing the community, and assemble a group of students and stakeholders to explore the issues at play, propose potential solutions, and develop recommendations to address the problems.
Executive Director Jessica Gransaull tells us more about the concept that was initially pioneered in Vancouver and then developed in other large cities across Canada.
Gransaull says the pilot project will officially launch in the fall and that’s when people will be able to submit recommendations.
Gransaull adds that the potential benefits for students and our community are limitless with this new initiative.
