While St. Thomas Transit has been operating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been no money coming in through the fare box. That will change starting July 13 thanks to nearly $17,000 in provincial funding for enhanced transit cleaning.
Mayor Joe Preston says this will allow the buses to begin returning to normal service with fare collection in place.
Preston says their may be more good news on the horizon for the transit system.
The hope, says Preston is to expand to seven day a week transit service operating longer hours. St. Thomas Transit will be a topic for discussion at a special meeting of city council this evening at 6:30.
