The St. Thomas Police Service are continuing their efforts to make city streets safer for the community through the execution of traffic projects.
Having just completed 2 different projects including a “Speeding” project on Elm Street at Manor Road that resulted in 8 charges and a project that involved bicycles operating along sidewalks down Talbot Street that saw 8 charges as well, the service will now shift some attention to Steele Street.
The STPS have had several complaints from residents on Steele Street reporting excessive speeds and motorists using the street as a shortcut.
Officers also continue with Operation Back on Track which was created to help ensure motorists adjust their driving habits along with the vehicles they drive back into accordance with the regulations under the Highway Traffic Act after many spent the last few months staying or working from home.
The traffic project will continue to focus on four traffic issues that have received an increased amount of complaints to police, including loud exhaust systems, excessive window tinting, e-bike safety and Distracted Driving.
