As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the OPP are limiting criminal record checks to essential workers at this time.
In a release sent out from the OPP West Region Headquarters, which includes Elgin County, it states that only essential workers, including health care personnel, social service workers, child care workers, and individuals involved in food supply and the maintenance of critical infrastructure will be considered.
Those that fall under this category must submit their applications electronically and pay fees by credit card.
The OPP ask that those submitting applications ensure that all personal information is accurate and complete, including name, date of birth and current address. Incomplete, missing or inaccurate information could result in delays in processing your application or your application being returned.
The OPP also remind the community that they can only accept and process criminal record checks for applicants that reside in OPP jurisdictions, meaning residents of St. Thomas must apply through our local police service.
