Bounced out of its normal June tee-off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the County of Elgin’s annual Warden’s Golf Tournament re-booked for the fall has now been cancelled this year. Instead, Warden Dave Mennill is challenging those who normally participate to instead donate directly to the United Way Elgin Middlesex.
In the shadow of the coronavirus, Mennill notes the donations will help meet the needs of vulnerable community members.
He adds the tournament normally raises upward of $20,000 and although participating golfers can’t gather in person, they can still make a difference through their United Way donation.
