As St. Thomas and Elgin County move into Phase 3 of reopening the province today, something that won’t be opening locally is Cineplex’s Galaxy Cinemas.
Canada’s largest cinema chain says even through the province is moving to STAGE 3 of reopening the economy, it’s in no hurry to reopen amid guidelines that restrict screening room capacity to 50 people, properly physically distanced.
While the opening date of their theatres in Ontario are still unknown, Cineplex has started to implement new measures that will ensure safety for both customers and employees.
Some of these new measures include launching reserved seating in all auditoriums across Canada with seating options automatically blocked off to ensure proper distance in every direction between guests.
They of course will be enhancing cleaning practices throughout their facilities but will also be limiting food offerings in theatres to Cineplex’s famous popcorn and other core concessions.
They will also only be accepting debit and credit payments, with the exception of gift card purchases.
