The province is spending 1.75 billion dollars in long-term care homes to deal with urgently needed projects and establish new beds.
A new funding model was introduced earlier last week, aimed at speeding up construction.
myFM spoke with Minister of Long-Term Care, Merrilee Fullerton, who says the building of long-term care homes has not kept up with the demand.
Fullerton adds that design standards for homes are being updated.
The new model will create new regional categories and provide development grants to cover upfront costs.
