Long recognized as the owner of the Wayside restaurant in Talbotville with husband Nick, Trudy Kanellis is now a highly visible individual in the community with the Rotary Club of St. Thomas.
She and Nick sold the iconic restaurant a couple of years ago although she still helps with the catering operation. That now leaves her with plenty of time to devote to her volunteer efforts.
In fact it was through catering at the Wayside that she first became involved with Rotarians.
Operating a popular restaurant while delving deeper into volunteering proved one of the biggest challenges for Trudy. But she was able to skillfully manage both streams of her life.
She says what really makes her feel good inside is being able to give back to the community.
That includes something new she and a group of other women have undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic, something they call Tuna Tuesdays where they distribute free sandwiches and snacks to needy individuals every Tuesday. That sense of giving back is what makes it all worthwhile, says Trudy.
That very important philosophy is why Trudy Kanellis is a Woman of Influence, brought to you by 94.1 myFM and Doug Tarry Homes.
