Southwestern Public Health is reporting another significant increase in COVID-19 cases today with 14 new cases confirmed. There are now 46 active cases with 8 new cases in Aylmer and 3 each in Norwich and Tillsonburg.
Dr. Joyce Lock, Medical Officer of Health says that the recent increase in numbers are mainly as a result of work related contact.
The health unit also announced that another case in St. Thomas has been resolved.
There are now 23 active cases in Aylmer, 6 in Bayham, 4 in St. Thomas and 1 in Central Elgin. Elsewhere in the health unit’s coverage area, there are 7 cases in Tillsonburg and 4 in Norwich.
An additional case involves an individual who resides outside the province.
Ontario reported 89 new cases of COVID-19 this morning, marking the second day in a row where the province has had fewer than 100 cases.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says 17 public health regions had no cases at all.
There are now a total of 39,075 confirmed cases, with 2,772 deaths, and 34,906 cases marked as resolved.
Elliott says the number of people in hospital, intensive care or on a ventilator all dropped today as well.
