With the wearing of face coverings in all indoor public spaces now mandatory across the Southwestern Public Health coverage area, city council in St. Thomas will discuss a bylaw supporting the health unit’s letter of instruction at its next meeting. City manager Wendell Graves stresses it will be council’s decision on whether to proceed with implementing such a bylaw.
Graves explains if council does endorse such a bylaw, it would be enforced through the city’s bylaw enforcement officers and St. Thomas Police.
Graves adds, the priority is to reinforce the direction of Southwestern Public Health and their letter of instruction with positive messaging and not through the writing of tickets and levying fines.
