A relatively quiet day across the Southwestern Public Health coverage area with five new confirmed COVID-19 cases as of this morning (Sunday). There are two new cases in Bayham and Norwich and a single new case in Tillsonburg. For the first time in more than a week there are no new cases reported in Aylmer.
There are 64 ongoing cases across the region with 32 active cases in Aylmer, 14 in Bayham, two in St. Thomas and one in Central Elgin. Elsewhere in the health unit’s coverage area, there are 8 cases in Tillsonburg and 6 in Norwich. An additional case involves an individual who resides outside the province.
One case reported yesterday involves a staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer. Staff at the long-term care home are working with Southwestern Public Health on outbreak management and to identify who the staff member has been in contact with.
The total of 64 cases in the Southwestern Public Health coverage area is exactly double the number of ongoing confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region covered by the Middlesex-London Health Unit.
