Southwestern Public Health is reporting seven new confirmed COVID-19 cases across its coverage area this morning (Monday) with two cases resolved including the lone case in Central Elgin. There are three new cases in Aylmer and Bayham and a single new case in Dutton-Dunwich.
There are 70 ongoing cases across the region with 35 active cases in Aylmer, 17 in Bayham, two in St. Thomas and one in Dutton-Dunwich. Elsewhere in the health unit’s coverage area, there are 8 cases in Tillsonburg and 6 in Norwich. An additional case involves an individual who resides outside the province.
One case reported Saturday involves a staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer. Staff at the long-term care home are working with Southwestern Public Health on outbreak management and to identify who the staff member has been in contact with.
As of today, 91 cases have been resolved across the health unit’s coverage area. The percent positivity (number of tests completed and percent that was positive) is at one per cent. Anything below five percent suggests there are very few undetected cases in the community, according to Southwestern Public Health.
The 70 cases in the Southwestern Public Health coverage area is more than double the number of ongoing confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region covered by the Middlesex-London Health Unit.
