The number of confirmed COIVD-19 cases in the Southwestern Public Health coverage area jumped by 10 today and three cases were reported resolved. The steady upward tick in East Elgin continues with seven new cases in Aylmer and another in Bayham. An additional new case has been reported in St. Thomas and in Tillsonburg.
There are 79 ongoing cases across the region with 42 active cases in Aylmer, 18 in Bayham and three in St. Thomas. Elsewhere in the health unit’s coverage area, there are 9 cases in Tillsonburg and 6 in Norwich. An additional case involves an individual who resides outside the province.
One case reported Saturday involves a staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer. Staff at the long-term care home are working with Southwestern Public Health on outbreak management and to identify who the staff member has been in contact with.
As of today, 94 cases have been resolved across the health unit’s coverage area.
The 79 ongoing cases in the Southwestern Public Health coverage area is a significantly higher number than reported in neighbouring health units in Chatham-Kent, London-Middlesex, Haldimand-Norfolk and Waterloo Region.
