The Town of Aylmer has passed a By-law that makes the wearing of masks or face coverings mandatory in all indoor public spaces beginning on August 6th at 11:59 p.m.
The move was made after Southwestern Public Health issued a letter of instruction and recommended that municipalities pass By-laws to help enforce the mask mandate announced last week.
The Town of Aylmer says that their approach to enforcement will be consistent with the letter of instruction and the Town will continue to look to SWPH for additional guidance as we navigate this unprecedented matter.
The Town added that case numbers are rising as we heard from SWPH this week and they are now considering the rise a community outbreak. On August 4th, SWPH reported 42 cases of COVID-19
confirmed by testing in Aylmer, with several neighboring municipalities also seeing increases in case numbers.
