The City of St. Thomas is advising the public that the Lily Pond and pedestrian pathway at Waterworks Park will be closed from August 24th to September 7th in order to complete rehabilitation.
The City is rehabilitating the Lily Pond to reinvigorate the pond, restore the habitat and improve public safety. The undertaking will include dewatering the pond and relocating the wildlife away from the construction area.
The city will also be removing sediment from the pond to increase water storage and depth. This will cause the pond to dry out less frequently in the summer, which is important for maintaining a healthy wildlife ecosystem year round.
Stabilizing the banks of the ponds, reducing erosion and improving public safety will also be a major part of the project.
The city apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thank the public for their patience as they complete this project.
