Big news coming out of the Thames Valley District School Board.
On Tuesday, the board announced that classes will be pushed back one week due to limits being stretched from the fallout of shifting COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.
Board Education Director Mark Fisher says they will have a staggered start, beginning Monday, September 14th.
Fisher also said that the London District Catholic School Board is expected to follow suit, even though that board met on Tuesday but nothing official was released.
The TVDSB recently received instructions from the Ministry of Education that it must adjust its in-person learning model to maintain 100 direct and indirect contacts for students.
To meet this and other ministry requirements, the board has been forced to change the learning model for secondary school students from 2 classes per day, to 1.
As a result of the new requirements, high school students will now be attending 1 class a day for 240 minutes, instead of the 2 days that was originally planned.
Students will now complete 2 courses over a 10-week period, with courses alternating every week.
