St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston says he is “quite pleased” with the news his former parliamentary assistant has been appointed Deputy Houser Leader of the Official Opposition by new Conservative party leader Erin O’Toole.
Preston notes, “It’s quite an honour to be asked to be part of the House management team so for her to take the role . . . is, first of all, an honour, but second of all, recognition of her skills at getting along with people.”
Preston has high praise for Vecchio and her work with him over an 11-year span.
Preston says Vecchio will have a positive influence on O’Toole in her capacity as Deputy House Leader. He adds her ability to make friends and not enemies will serve her well.
Now the mayor of St. Thomas, Preston adds Vecchio’s appointment is recognition of her skills at getting along with people.
