As the province pushes to increase testing capacity at COVID-19 assessment centres, Robert Biron President and CEO of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital says over the past few days there has been an uptick in the number of appointments at the hospital testing centre.
Biron says this is not surprising with schools re-opening and he notes there is capacity for staff and resident testing at long-term care facilities.
The assessment centre is open seven days a week by appointment only.
